Hiking in the Alps and delicious Kaiserschmarrn
Our first destination in Austria was Innsbruck. We drove from Strasbourg through Germany on August 11th. It was a long-ish drive (about 6 hours) and we reached Innsbruck at around 6PM.
After checking in to our hotel, we walked around in Innsbruck, checking out the city and the olympic stadium. We then had dinner and listened to live music.
The next morning, we drove to Grinzens where we did an amazing hike. On the way down, we saw a dead cow and notified the owner of the restaurant at the base of the mountain. 20 minutes later, we heard a helicopter pass by, airlifting the dead cow! 🤯
At night we went back to Innsbruck for food and drinks.
The next day, we stayed in Innsbruck to hike Pfeishutte. We took the cable car from Innsbruck to the start of the hike. The hike was nice, but not as good as Grinzens. There was a lot of very loose rocks that kept knocking our balance.
After Pfeishutte, we decided to do another easy hike around Innsbruck before going to dinner and tasting my first Kaiserschmarrn.
The next day, we made our way to Tux, stopping in Wattens to see the Swarovski Kristallwelten, and Mayrhofen for tea.
In Tux, once checked in, we went for a hike to the top of the mountain, where we had a Kaiserschmarrn and some beers.
At night, we went for dinner in a fun bar that had live music.
The next day, we did another hiking in Tux, followed by a sauna and swim in a hot pool at the hotel.
We then left Tux to spend the night in Bregenz, which wasn't very exciting. The next day, we made our way back to Strasbourg. On the way back, and in the span of a few hours, I was in the following countries: Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Germany, and France.
We stopped in Vaduz for a short hike and some very expensive soda water.
