Riobamba
Almost biking in Chimborazo
I arrived in Riobamba on Friday afternoon, checked in to a lovely hostel and then walked to the center to enquire about mountain biking in Chimborazo.
I called Julio Verne (one of the agencies offering the tour) and at that moment they did not have anyone booked for the tour. I went to the other agency, ProBici and they seemed to have someone else interested in the tour. The owner was friendly and went through the details of the tour, but did not leave anything to the imagination. He kept insisting on showing me pictures. The tour would start the next day at 6am.
I went to the hostel, made a salad and went to bed early-ish. The next morning, I got up early, but Probici had messaged me at 5:30am saying that the other people dropped out and the tour was cancelled. Disappointed, I went back to sleep. At 7am, I got a message from Julio Verne, saying that someone is interested in the tour for the day and they would confirm soon for a departure at 9am. At 8:30am, they messaged me back saying that the tour was a no go.
Disappointed again, I decided to take an early bus to Banos.
